For anyone that has kids, we all know that children are fascinated by the toilet. Whether it’s the sound of the flush, the fact that the water goes down in circles, or that when you put something in there and flush, it disappears. It actually is pretty cool if you think about it, but what do you do when your child accidentally flushes something they shouldn’t have?
There are a couple of things to remember if your child flushes their toy down the toilet (or your favorite piece of jewelry).
- Take a deep breath and think about how much fun your child had taking Mr. Snuggles on a water ride!
- If you can see the item, you should pull it out with your hands or a hooked object. This is a best-case scenario, even though I’m sure no one wants to put their hands in a toilet.
- Don’t keep flushing the toilet in hopes that it will unclog the toilet. Chances are it may seem like it is clear and working, but you may have an issue sooner than you think!
- You might be tempted to use a plunger or auger to fish the item out, however, we’d advise against it. By using those items, you could actually push the toy further into your plumbing system which could lead to some costly repairs.
If you can’t fish the toy out yourself, the team at Northside Plumbing is always prepared to help you and your family with your plumbing issue! (770) 272-2558
